Cross-cultural competence. The Western World
This programme is designed for professionals in international relations, regional studies, diplomacy, and humanitarian cooperation working with the countries of the Western World. It provides a comprehensive understanding of the main cultural norms, value systems, and communication patterns of the Western World essential for effective professional engagement and informed interaction within the region.
The expert seminar enables participants to:
- Build respectful, sustainable, and effective communication with representatives of different countries across the Western world
- Understand culturally specific approaches to negotiation, decision-making, and professional accountability in Western contexts
- Identify potential sources of misunderstanding and conflict, and prevent cross-cultural challenges in professional and everyday interaction
- Comprehend social structures, individualism–collectivism dynamics, secular frameworks, and key dimensions of Western identity
- Navigate communication norms, implicit rules, non-verbal signalling, and professional etiquette across Western cultural contexts
- Accurately interpret behavioural patterns, emotional expression, and communication strategies of Western partners, colleagues, and counterparts
- Understand the cultural logic, dominant mindsets, and value orientations shaping societies of the Western world
